WWE names Raw and SmackDown general managers
Both Raw and SmackDown finally have their general managers heading into Tuesday’s WWE Draft.
Stephanie McMahon announced that WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley will be in charge of Raw, while Shane McMahon put Daniel Bryan in charge of the revamped SmackDown.
Foley previously served as the company’s on-screen commissioner in the early 2000’s. He has made numerous television appearances and has had a somewhat rocky relationship with the company since retiring as an active performer.
Bryan last appeared on Raw when he officially retired from in-ring competition in February. Bryan also currently serves as the color commentator for WWE Network’s Cruiserweight Classic tournament.
Bryan said that he wasn’t sure that he would be able to come back since he missed performing inside of the ring so much, but said that Shane convinced him with his vision for SmackDown as the underdog brand. Bryan vowed that SmackDown would beat Raw every single week. Stephanie said that he was a B+ player for a B+ show.
Stephanie also announced that with the success of the CWC, Raw will be launching a cruiserweight division.
