New title match reportedly planned for WWE Night of Champions
Tiffany Stratton has been added to the poster for WWE Night of Champions — and it sounds like she’ll be defending her Women’s United States title at the PLE.
False Finish (recently launched outlet of former Bodyslam.net contributors) reports that Stratton vs. Jade Cargill for the Women’s United States Championship is currently planned for the June 27 PLE in Saudi Arabia. The two have been feuding on SmackDown with Chelsea Green trying to help Stratton even the odds against Cargill and The Baddies (Michin & B-Fab).
Last week on SmackDown, Cargill, Michin & B-Fab laid out Stratton in a three-on-one beatdown after Michin & B-Fab defeated Green & Stratton in a tag match.
The official poster for Night of Champions originally had Rhea Ripley on it, but WWE swapped Ripley out for Stratton due to a knee injury Ripley is dealing with. Stratton, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan, and United States Champion Trick Williams are featured on the poster.
If title defenses by Stratton and Rhodes are both added, that would mean a six-match card for Night of Champions. Rhodes is putting his Undisputed WWE title on the line against Gunther on SmackDown tonight in a match where Sami Zayn is the special guest referee, which could lead to a bout involving them being made for Night of Champions.
The Night of Champions PLE has a 1 p.m. Eastern start time on June 27. Here’s where the card stands going into tonight’s SmackDown:
