WWE pulls ‘match-used steel chair’ auction after blunder

WWE Survivor Series 2022 women's WarGames match

WWE and Fanatics have taken down an auction for a “match-used steel chair” after fans pointed out a significant problem with the item.

Through Fanatics’ auction platform, WWE was auctioning off a steel chair that had supposedly been used during the women’s WarGames match at Survivor Series 2022. But the listing has now been taken down after fans pointed out that there was never a steel chair used during that match. It’s not clear if WWE mistakenly listed the wrong year/match or if the chair had actually been incidentally involved in some fashion. The auction included a picture of the chair showing that it had been very lightly dented.

Team Belair (Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Mia Yim & Becky Lynch) defeated Team Damage CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai, IYO SKY, Rhea Ripley & Nikki Cross) in the match, which was the first women’s WarGames bout on the WWE main roster. The chair was not autographed by any of the competitors. Bidding was only at $75 as of earlier today.

Here is what the listing said:

  • The first women’s WarGames match on WWE’s main roster needed a weapon that looked as unforgiving as the stipulation sounded. Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Mia Yim and the returning Becky Lynch beat Damage CTRL, Nikki Cross and Rhea Ripley at Survivor Series 2022, closing a months-long fight with steel all around them. This authentic match-used steel chair comes from that Women’s WarGames match. No autograph has to dress it up. Becky came back, the cage held and the chair took its share of the damage.

WWE & Fanatics auctions —

Holding more auctions for match-used items is something WWE & Fanatics are reportedly interested in after the bidding for El Grande Americano’s mask from AAA Noche de Los Grandes has reached more than $40,000. That is a charity auction with all proceeds going toward the Dr. Sonrisas Foundation, which aims to put smiles on the faces of Mexican children who are going through serious health battles.

Bidding for the Americano mask ends tomorrow (June 25). Other active auctions include an autographed match-used trash can lid from the Blake Monroe vs. Jaida Parker street fight at NXT Vengeance Day 2026.
