WWE Raw Google Search interest and analysis (last 90 days comparative)
Google Search interest for WWE RAW has been 3% lower over the most recent three-month period compared to the preceding 90 days. This isn’t horrific (especially when you factor in that February to April was the build-up for ‘Mania season), but it is down heading into SummerSlam this weekend.
Google Trends scores measure relative search (interest rather than the total number of searches) and the highest point in the selected location and period is assigned a score of 100. It’s not an exact science of knowing how much hype is around a certain event/weekly show, but it’s a good indicator.
What’s, potentially, more worrying for WWE, is that interest is down 10% compared to where it was during this same period last year. 2025 was of course the first year that Raw started airing on Netflix (from January 6), so a decline is natural as casual fatigue kicks in hard after about 6-9 months of a new show (new for Netflix causal viewers), but 10% is still a noticeable drop.
July 20th vs previous weeks
Compared with the other recent episodes, the July 20 reading in terms of Google Searches was approximately:
- 9% below the July 13 episode
- 31% below the July 6 episode
- 37% below the June 29 high point
The dotted section at the end of the graph right now is provisional, but it does show that interest is beginning to rise ahead of the July 27 SummerSlam go-home episode (which is usually the case on Mondays). But, I’ll be able to get a full reading on this later in the week and if the go-home show reading is actually an indication of how well SummerSlam could do this weekend on streaming.
July 20th spike
As you can see above, the July 20 spike was lower than the previous three Raw episodes. What is potentially an issue for WWE, is that the show over the last two weeks has not returned Raw to the search levels recorded around the June 29 and July 6 episodes. That is a problem when you’re trying to build to a PLE at the weekend, but it’s not completely disastrous.
WWE’s biggest “problem” is that Raw go pretty hot following the Night of Champions PLE (the announcement of Cody Rhodes vs Sami Zayn and the return of CM Punk to win the WWE Championship), but all of that intrigue has fallen to the wayside as all three of those names are back on SmackDown. Raw got a lot of interest a couple of weeks before SummerSlam, and nothing on the show appears to be bringing intrigue and online interest in the same way (even with Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar vs Oba Femi).
