WWE SmackDown final ratings up five percent from previous week

Friday night’s episode of SmackDown on Fox averaged 2.12 million viewers, up 5.3 percent from the previous week. The show was also up from the 2.002 million viewers it averaged in the fast nationals.

The previous week’s New Year’s Day edition of SmackDown faced significant competition from the College Football Playoff semifinals.

Friday’s SmackDown was the least viewed show on network TV with most other programs averaging over three million viewers. In the 18-49 demo, SmackDown drew a 0.56 rating. That was near the bottom of the network charts despite the fact that SmackDown more often than not wins in that category. In terms of original programming, SmackDown beat only Dateline NBC. SmackDown was behind five shows on ABC and CBS.

In the 18-34 demo, SmackDown drew a 0.31 rating. That was third among network shows, trailing ABC’s Shark Tank and CBS’ Blue Bloods.

SmackDown was up 5.7 percent from last week in 18-49 but down 30 percent year-over-year. The show was down 11.4 percent in 18-34 from last week and down 38 percent year-over-year in that category.

Overall viewership was down 15.1 percent as compared to this week last year.
