WWE files to trademark potential new wrestler name

WWE has filed a new trademark.

On December 5, the company submitted documents to trademark the name “FAHD TUWAIQ” for wrestling purposes.

The purposes of the filing are listed as, “Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”

The first name Fahd is said to be a masculine name with Arabic roots, meaning panther or leopard. The surname Tuwaiq is said to be associated with the Tuwaiq mountain range in Saudi Arabia.

Other recent filings with the US Patent and Trademark Office include Clash of Champions which was filed on December 1. The term Tribal Heir was filed to trademark on November 6. Two days prior to that, WWE filed to trademark the name DarkState for the NXT faction led by Dion Lennox. The name Skylar Raye was trademarked on November 3. On October 1, WWE filed to trademark a vintage style double W block logo that resembles the classic WWF era design with the F removed. On September 30, WWE filed to trademark the name of a potential new show, Showdown.
