WWE’s Danhausen appears at MSG for NBA Finals game

There’s a strange man with rare powers and unusual skin tone at Madison Square Garden tonight for Game 3 of the NBA Finals. No, not that one.

After a week of matches in France, Portugal, and Spain, WWE’s Danhausen made it to the Garden in New York City for tonight’s game between the San Antonio Spurs and the New York Knicks.

In an appearance on ESPN, Danhausen took partial credit for the Knicks’ win streak; suggested that New York guard would succeed as a WWE superstar; and noted that ESPN’s Jeremy Lin and Iman Shumpert and Jeremy Lin, former NBA players themselves, were even taller than him, so they must be close to 10 feet tall.

Later, Danhausen shared that “Someone from the spurs hit Danhausen with a basketball pre game during his live interview,” then showed a GIF of his own smiling face.

Danhausen, whose gimmick in pro wrestling involves casting “curses” on his peers and colleagues, famously cursed the Knicks as the NBA playoffs began. New York promptly last two out of three games to the underdog Atlanta Hawks.

At that point Danhausen “uncursed” the Knicks. The team has won each of its 13 games since—three straight against Atlanta; sweeping the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers in four games each; and taking a 2-0 lead in the Finals against the San Antonio Spurs.

This weekend, Danhausen issued a list of demands to Zohran Mamdani, the mayor of New York City, threatening to re-curse New York if they are not met. A Danhausen balloon in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade was among the criteria.

TKO president Mark Shapiro was also seen at tonight’s basketball game.

In hockey news, Danhausen has also cursed the Carolina Hurricanes, who went on to lose to the Vegas Golden Knights 5-4 in double overtime in the Stanley Cup Finals. With Carolina now trailing two games to one, Danhausen has offered to uncurse them for, in his words, “human money.”
