WWE’s John Cena to have role in ‘Barbie’ movie
John Cena will be playing a role in one of this summer’s most anticipated movies.
It was confirmed on Tuesday that Cena will have a role in the upcoming Barbie movie. Though Cena doesn’t appear in the trailer, his name is listed among the cast.
Last summer, it was reported that Cena would be playing the love interest of singer Dua Lipa in the movie. Dua Lipa is playing a “beautiful mermaid” in Barbie.
Based on Mattel’s Barbie and Ken dolls, the Barbie movie stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. It’s directed by Greta Gerwig and will be released in theaters on July 21 of this year.
Cena made his return to the ring at WrestleMania 39 night one this past Saturday, opening the show in a United States Championship match against Austin Theory. Theory visually tapped out to Cena’s STF during the match, but the referee had accidentally been knocked down. The finish of the match was Theory giving Cena a low blow and then hitting A-Town Down.
This was only Cena’s second match since September 2021. It was his first appearance at WrestleMania since 2020.
