Sami Zayn is injured.

Zayn was shown with his arm in a sling on the July 15 edition of WWE SmackDown. Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the injury is legit but WWE is hopeful he should be able to return to the ring in “a few weeks.”

“Zayn had his arm in a sling on Smackdown on 7/15. The injury is legit but it’s not major and they are hopeful of him being able to wrestle in a few weeks,” Meltzer wrote.

Zayn hasn’t wrestled since the men’s Money in the Bank match from Las Vegas on July 2. He had competed in a battle royal the night before on SmackDown and defeated Shinsuke Nakamura in a qualifying match on the June 24 episode. Prior to that, he had been working against Drew McIntyre on house shows throughout June.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Zayn will be Steve Austin’s next guest on WWE’s Broken Skull Sessions. The episode will be released on Friday, July 22.
