Xavier Woods, Jinder Mahal advance to WWE King of the Ring semifinals

The semifinals of this year’s King of the Ring tournament are now set.

Xavier Woods and Jinder Mahal won their respective King of the Ring first-round matches on Raw tonight and will face each other in the semifinals of the tournament next Monday. The winner of Woods vs. Mahal will face either Finn Balor or Sami Zayn in the finals of King of the Ring.

Balor and Zayn’s semifinal match is taking place on SmackDown this Friday.

Woods defeated Ricochet on Raw tonight, while Mahal defeated Kofi Kingston. It would have been a New Day vs. New Day matchup in the semifinals if Kingston won his first-round match.

Woods has said that winning King of the Ring is a lifelong goal of his. For years, he’s lobbied for the return of King of the Ring and to be included in the tournament.

This is WWE’s first King of the Ring tournament since 2019. Baron Corbin defeated Chad Gable in the 2019 finals.

The finals of the King of the Ring and Queen’s Crown tournaments are both being held at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, October 21.
