February 4, 2024 Observer Newsletter: Vince McMahon gone from TKO, WWE Royal Rumble review

I wanted to inform you that Vince McMahon has tendered his resignation from his position as TKO Executive Chairman and on the TKO Board of Directors. He will no longer have a role with TKO Group Holdings or WWE.”

Nick Khan, January 26, 2024

With that statement, the link between Vince McMahon and WWE, which for decades was pretty much one–and–the–same, was broken, likely permanently.

McMahon, 78, the most important figure in the history of pro wrestling and its greatest promoter, is likely to have his lasting memory, like Harvey Weinstein, as a loathsome sexual predator as opposed to the architect of a multi-billion dollar business. Even under the worst of circumstances, and these were the worst of circumstances, you can’t deny the latter, nor his role and influence in changing the industry. His fingerprints and DNA will likely remain a major part of what pro wrestling is for decades, if not longer after he’s no longer around.
