Next week’s WWE NXT to feature Kevin Owens as guest commentator

Next week’s episode of NXT will have a special guest on commentary.

WWE has announced that Kevin Owens will be doing guest commentary for next Wednesday’s NXT. He’ll be calling the show alongside Vic Joseph and Beth Phoenix.

Wade Barrett is Joseph and Phoenix’s regular broadcast partner, but Barrett announced during tonight’s show that he won’t be able to be on next Wednesday’s episode. Barrett said he doesn’t like to be the bearer of bad news, so he called Owens to fill in for him next week.

Owens held the NXT Championship from February 2015 to July 2015. He made a one-night-only return to the brand last year as part of Team Ciampa at NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2019.

Owens was drafted to SmackDown in the WWE Draft last month. He’ll be part of Team SmackDown at Survivor Series this Sunday, teaming with Jey Uso, Baron Corbin, Seth Rollins, and one more partner who has yet to be announced. They’ll be facing Team Raw (AJ Styles, Keith Lee, Sheamus, Braun Strowman & Riddle) in the men’s five-on-five traditional Survivor Series elimination match.

WWE has yet to announce any matches for next Wednesday’s NXT. The build to NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2020 will continue on the episode. It was announced tonight that this year’s TakeOver: WarGames is taking place on Sunday, December 6.
