WWE announces NXT WarGames event for December

WWE has officially set a date for NXT’s first streaming special since its “NXT 2.0” rebrand.

During tonight’s episode of NXT, it was announced that “NXT WarGames” will take place on Sunday, December 5. The show will air live on Peacock/WWE Network.

The show isn’t being branded as an “NXT TakeOver” event. The TakeOver name wasn’t used when the announcement was made, and it also isn’t featured on the graphic for the show.

The final TakeOver event before the NXT 2.0 rebrand was this August’s NXT TakeOver 36.

NXT Halloween Havoc took place last month, but that was a special television episode and not a streaming special.

This will be the fifth straight year that NXT has presented a WarGames event.

Llast year’s TakeOver: WarGames was headlined by The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong & Bobby Fish) defeating Team McAfee (Pat McAfee, Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch) in a WarGames match. Team Candice (Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai, Raquel Gonzalez & Toni Storm) defeated Team Shotzi (Shotzi Blackheart, Ember Moon, Rhea Ripley & Io Shirai) in the show’s other WarGames match.
