Rey Mysterio joins Aro Lucha as co-owner and performer

Rey Mysterio has joined Aro Lucha as both a co-owner and a performer.

The Tennessean put out an article today announcing that Mysterio had signed with the promotion. There are also plans to start a crowdfunding effort soon that would allow fans to invest into a minority stake of the company.

"I think what we are doing with Aro Lucha being fan-owned is revolutionary," . "We are giving the fans something they have never had before, a voice and a chance to get in on the action.”

The article also briefly mentioned that Mysterio "was rumored to be considering a return to the WWE," but it did not elaborate further as to what the status of a potential return would be with this new venture. Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that as of right now, Mysterio is still negotiating with WWE about possibly returning to the company.

Aro Lucha taped a pilot back in December that featured wrestlers such as Willie Mack, Rebecca Hardy, Jack Evans, and Hurricane Helms, among others. The main event of that show had  Mysterio and Penta 0M defeat John Hennigan (Mundo) and Rush.

It was mentioned in the article that there are plans to tape a first season of Aro Lucha soon, possibly around May or June. They still don’t have a TV deal as of this writing. Jason Brown and Ron and Don Harris are the co-founders of the promotion.
