Bayley & Banks retain Women’s Tag Team titles, set for NXT match

With them retaining their Women’s Tag Team titles at Backlash, Bayley & Sasha Banks will be in action on this week’s episode of NXT.

In the opening match of Backlash tonight, Bayley & Banks defeated Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross and The IIconics in a triple threat match to retain the Women’s Tag Team titles. The finish of the match was Banks rolling up Bliss to get the win after Bliss had hit Twisted Bliss on Peyton Royce.

Bayley & Banks will now defend their Tag Team titles against Tegan Nox & Shotzi Blackheart on NXT this Wednesday. It was announced on NXT last week that Nox & Blackheart would challenge whichever team were champions coming out of Backlash.

Bayley & Banks made an appearance on NXT during their first Women’s Tag Team title reign in 2019, but they’ve never defended the titles on the brand. Until now, the only Women’s Tag Team title match to take place in NXT was when Asuka & Kairi Sane retained against Nox & Dakota Kai in October.

Bayley & Banks became Women’s Tag Team Champions for the second time when they won the titles from Bliss & Cross on SmackDown earlier this month.
