Drew McIntyre wins WWE Championship on Raw

Drew McIntyre regained the WWE title tonight on Raw.

McIntyre won the title from Randy Orton, pinning him following the Claymore kick in the main event. Originally a standard singles match, the match was later turned into a no DQ, no count out match by WWE official Adam Pearce after Orton tried to walk away from the match.

This marks the end of Orton’s tenth run with the title and the start of McIntyre’s second reign. Orton had beaten McIntyre for the title back at Hell in a Cell on October 25.

With McIntyre winning the WWE title, the match for Survivor Series now will be new WWE Champion Drew McIntyre vs. Universal Champion Roman Reigns. McIntyre appeared on SmackDown this past Friday and confronted Reigns, saying that he would defeat Orton on Raw. Jey Uso got involved, leading to a McIntyre-Uso match later on in the show in which McIntyre won.

Survivor Series takes place this Sunday.
