Keith Lee appears at NXT TakeOver: Chicago

NXT’s newest addition was confirmed at tonight’s TakeOver special in the Chicago area.

Prior to Aleister Black defending his NXT Championship against Lars Sullivan, Keith Lee was shown in the front row and identified as a former WWN Champion and someone who would be interested in the title match.

Lee signing with WWE had been expected for the last couple of months. He finished up on the independent scene at the end of May, having farewell shows for Beyond Wrestling, PWG, and EVOLVE.

Dave Meltzer, who reported in March that Lee had been offered a WWE contract, wrote earlier this month that Lee, Io Shirai, Deonna Purrazzo, gymnast Stacey Ervin Jr., and former rugby players Daniel Vidot and Luke Menzies were expected to be part of the next class to report to NXT as long as there weren’t any last-minute medical issues.

NXT will follow up on TakeOver as they return to Full Sail University for television tapings this coming Thursday.
