King of the Ring tournament finals set for WWE Raw

The finals of WWE’s King of the Ring tournament are officially set.

Chad Gable will face Baron Corbin in the finals on next Monday’s episode of Raw. The finals had originally been planned for Clash of Champions.

With Elias unable to wrestle on tonight’s SmackDown due to an ankle injury, Gable faced Shane McMahon in the semifinals instead. In storyline, Shane put himself into the match and made Kevin Owens the special guest referee. Shane suggested that he would rescind Owens’ $100,000 fine if Owens helped him win.

Owens fast counted to three when Gable pinned Shane with a German suplex right after the match started. Shane then made it a two-out-of-three falls match, but he ended up tapping out to an ankle lock after Owens stopped him from using a steel chair.

Shane “fired” Owens after the match.

Corbin advanced to the King of the Ring finals by defeating Ricochet and Samoa Joe in a triple threat match on this week’s Raw. Corbin defeated The Miz and Cedric Alexander in the first two rounds of the tournament, while Gable defeated Shelton Benjamin and Andrade.
