Kofi Kingston vs. Kevin Owens announced for WWE SmackDown

WWE has made their first match announcement for this week’s episode of SmackDown.

On Raw tonight, it was announced that WWE Champion Kofi Kingston will face Kevin Owens in a non-title match on SmackDown. That’s a rematch from Money in the Bank, where Kingston defeated Owens to retain the WWE title.

Kingston appeared on tonight’s Raw and furthered the build to his title defense against Dolph Ziggler at Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia on June 7. Ziggler attacked Kingston, then brawled with Xavier Woods when Woods tried to make the save. As Ziggler was attacking Woods with a steel chair, Kingston came to the ring with his own chair to fend Ziggler off.

Ziggler also cut a promo on Kingston. He said Kingston’s been wasting his time focusing on Brock Lesnar and the Money in the Bank briefcase when he should have been worried about Ziggler. Ziggler said he knows how good Kingston is, but it should have been him in Kingston’s position at WrestleMania.

The BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma is hosting this week’s SmackDown.
