Reigns vs. Lashley to decide Brock Lesnar’s next challenger

A Universal Championship number one contender’s match is set for next week’s Raw, and it will involve the same two wrestlers WWE had been positioning as the top contenders heading into Extreme Rules.

Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley both won triple threats on Raw tonight to advance to next week’s number one contender’s match. They also faced each other at Extreme Rules on Sunday, with Lashley defeating Reigns by hitting the spear when Reigns was going for the same move.

Reigns defeated Finn Balor and Drew McIntyre tonight, while Lashley beat Elias and Seth Rollins. Lashley again used the spear, hitting it on Elias before getting the win. Reigns pinned Balor earlier in the show after also hitting a spear.

While Braun Strowman wasn’t included in either triple threat match, WWE had him do an interview where he explained that he didn’t need to be in them because his Money in the Bank briefcase gives him a shot at the Universal title whenever he wants it.

The winner of Reigns vs. Lashley will challenge for Lesnar’s Universal Championship at SummerSlam in Brooklyn, New York on August 19.

Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt getting their rematch against new Tag Team Champions The B-Team (Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas) has been announced for next Monday’s Raw as well. The episode will take place in Cincinnati, Ohio.
