Reigns vs. Owens steel cage title match set for WWE SmackDown

Following TLC, Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens are set to face off in another stipulation match.

WWE has announced that Reigns will defend his Universal Championship against Owens in a steel cage match on this Friday's Christmas Day episode of SmackDown. Reigns retained against Owens in a tables, ladders, and chairs match at TLC on Sunday night. The steel cage stipulation for their rematch is due to Jey Uso getting involved throughout Reigns vs. Owens at TLC.

WWE.com wrote about Friday's steel cage match:

At WWE TLC, Universal Champion Roman Reigns employed the help of his cousin Jey Uso to add to his overall advantage against the ultra-resilient Kevin Owens and ultimately secured the victory in an absolutely brutal Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match.

But there will be no one and nothing to help either Superstar when they are locked inside the unforgiving steel on the blue brand. KO challenges The Big Dog in a Universal Championship Rematch inside a Steel Cage, this Friday at 8/7 C on SmackDown.

This is the second title match that's been announced for Friday's Christmas Day editionĀ of SmackDown. Big E will also challenge for Sami Zayn's Intercontinental Championship on the show.

Friday's SmackDown is being taped in advance. The following week's New Year's Day edition of SmackDown will air live.
