Samoa Joe, Cedric Alexander advance in WWE King of the Ring

Samoa Joe and Cedric Alexander are the first two wrestlers to advance to the King of the Ring quarterfinals.

Joe defeated Cesaro in their first round match on tonight’s Raw, while Alexander defeated Sami Zayn. Joe submitted Cesaro with the Coquina Clutch. Alexander pinned Zayn after hitting the Lumbar Check.

Ricochet vs. Drew McIntyre and The Miz vs. Baron Corbin will take place on Raw next week. The winner of Ricochet vs. McIntyre will face Joe in the quarterfinals. The winner of Miz vs. Corbin will face Alexander.

Ricochet & Miz defeated McIntyre & Corbin in a tag match on Raw tonight.

The first round of King of the Ring is set to continue on this week’s SmackDown. Kevin Owens vs. Elias and Apollo Crews vs. Andrade will take place on the show.

Ali vs. Buddy Murphy and Chad Gable vs. Shelton Benjamin are the other opening round matches on the SmackDown side of the bracket.

The finals of King of the Ring will be held at Clash of Champions in Charlotte, North Carolina on September 15.
