Sasha Banks returns to the ring on WWE SmackDown

Sasha Banks was back in the ring on tonight’s episode of SmackDown.

Banks returned to the ring in her hometown of Boston, teaming with SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley against Naomi & Lacey Evans. Naomi & Evans got the win when Naomi pinned Bayley with a sunset flip.

The bell rang for a singles match between Bayley and Naomi on SmackDown tonight, but Bayley said she shouldn’t even have to be there. Bayley noted that she already made history when she defeated Naomi at Super ShowDown.

Bayley said that she was there for one reason and one reason only, then introduced the returning Banks. Banks caused a disqualification by attacking Naomi after her match against Bayley got started. Evans ran down to make the save, and it was then made a tag match.

This was the first time Banks has wrestled since the January 3 episode of SmackDown. Banks twice had matches against Evans announced for SmackDown after that, but there were angles where it didn’t happen either time. Banks bailed on the match the first time and then was attacked by Evans backstage the next week.

Dave Meltzer wrote in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Banks was “still out of action with an ankle injury but should be back soon.”
