WWE confirms Roman Reigns for Royal Rumble match

Roman Reigns is the first wrestler announced for this year’s men’s Royal Rumble match.

Reigns was confirmed for the men’s Royal Rumble during a backstage segment on tonight’s SmackDown. Daniel Bryan vowed to defeat “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt for the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble. Reigns then said he’ll be in the Rumble match — and it will be Bryan vs. Reigns at WrestleMania if they both win.

Reigns also mentioned that no one took the Universal title from him when he held it. Reigns had to relinquish the title in October 2018 after his leukemia diagnosis.

In the main event of tonight’s SmackDown, Reigns & Bryan teamed together against Baron Corbin & Dolph Ziggler. Bryan was attacked by The Fiend, but The Usos made their return to help Reigns against Corbin and Ziggler.

Charlotte Flair is the only entrant that’s been confirmed for the women’s Royal Rumble match thus far. The pay-per-view is taking place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas on January 26.

In addition to the two Rumble matches and The Fiend vs. Bryan, Becky Lynch defending the Raw Women’s Championship against Asuka has been announced for the Royal Rumble.
