Raw’s final build to Backlash took place on last night’s go-home show.
After losing the NXT Women’s Championship at TakeOver: In Your House, Charlotte Flair was in action in two non-title matches last night. Despite dissension between them, Charlotte & Raw Women’s Champion Asuka defeated The IIconics and Women’s Tag Team Champions Bayley & Sasha Banks in last night’s opener.
Charlotte then defeated Asuka in the main event after interference by Asuka’s Backlash challenger Nia Jax.
Peep Show and VIP Lounge segments built up Edge vs. Randy Orton and WWE Champion Drew McIntyre vs. Bobby Lashley for Backlash. Lashley also teamed with MVP against The Viking Raiders.
Plus, a triple threat number one contender’s match between Kevin Owens, Andrade, and Angel Garza decided who will challenge Apollo Crews for the United States Championship at Backlash.
