WWE reveals bracket for 2018 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic
Following the tournament officially being announced on television, WWE has revealed the bracket for the 2018 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
The left side of the bracket has The Street Profits vs. Heavy Machinery and TM61 vs. The Authors of Pain in the first round, while the right side has SAnitY vs. Tino Sabbatelli & Riddick Moss and Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch vs. Tyler Bate & Trent Seven.
The Street Profits vs. Heavy Machinery, TM61 vs. AOP, and SAnitY vs. Sabbatelli & Moss were filmed at NXT’s television tapings in Atlanta earlier this month. The tournament will begin airing on TV in two weeks, and it will continue at NXT’s tapings at Full Sail University on March 7th.
Lorcan will be returning in the tournament after having been out of action since November. Dave Meltzer reported that his absence was due to some injuries, but Meltzer wrote that they were said to not be too serious.
Though they didn’t end up being included, Wesley Blake & Steve Cutler, who are going by the name “The Forgotten Sons,” did a promo at the last tapings indicating that they would be one of the teams in the tournament.
The team that wins the Dusty Classic will challenge for Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly’s NXT Tag Team titles at TakeOver: New Orleans on April 7th.
