AEW wrestler among new CMLL Grand Prix additions

CMLL Grand Prix 2026

Another AEW name has been confirmed for the 2026 men’s edition of CMLL’s International Grand Prix.

The Team World vs. Team Mexico cibernetico match is set to be held at Arena Mexico on Friday, August 7. Roderick Strong (AEW), Yujiro Takahashi (NJPW), and Leon Cage (RevPro) have been added to the Team World side, joining PAC (AEW), DOUKI (NJPW), and Austin Aries (MLW). There are still five open spots left on the team.

Hechicero, Ultimo Guerrero, Mascara Dorada, Titan, Xelhua, and Volador Jr. have been announced for Team Mexico so far.

In AEW, Strong is a member of The Conglomeration. He also made a trip to Mexico this January for what was his CMLL debut.

Takahashi had his summer scheduled cleared up earlier this week when he failed to qualify for NJPW’s G1 Climax tournament. He had a chance to take the last B Block spot but lost to OSKAR.

The 19-year-old Cage is one of the brightest stars on the UK indies and recently received praise from WWE’s Pete Dunne after they worked a match against each other for Attack Pro Wrestling.

Only one winner will be crowned at the end of the 11 vs. 11 Grand Prix match. The most recent male winners are Mistico and Claudio Castagnoli, with Mistico winning in 2025 and 2023 and Castagnoli winning in 2024.

CMLL also holds an annual women’s version of the Grand Prix in October. Persephone won the 2025 edition of the match.
