SummerSlam ticket sales failing to meet expectations has reportedly been a “hot” topic of conversation within WWE over the past several weeks.

On Thursday night, WrestleTix published a report noting that — with less than a month until the PLE — SummerSlam was at 22,069 tickets distributed for night one and 23,809 distributed for night two. The report led to a lot of discussion online, but WrestleVotes says the relative lack of ticket sales has been a point of discussion within WWE dating back to last month.

“The SummerSlam ticket sale story, or lack thereof, has been a hot topic in Stamford over the past month or so,” WrestleVotes tweeted. “This isn’t a realization that came today. It’s been a concern internally for weeks.”

SummerSlam 2026 is being held at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Saturday, August 1 and Sunday, August 2. It’s the second ever two-night SummerSlam, following 2025’s event at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. WWE claimed a combined two-night attendance of 113,722 for last year’s event.

Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship, Liv Morgan vs. IYO SKY for the Women’s World Championship, and Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar (Hell in a Cell) have been confirmed for SummerSlam 2026 so far. An Undisputed WWE Championship match between CM Punk and Cody Rhodes is expected to be added to the lineup.

Dave Meltzer on WWE SummerSlam ticket sales —

In the new issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, our Dave Meltzer addressed the SummerSlam ticket situation and noted that US Bank Stadium could hold 67,000 fans each night if need be. Meltzer doesn’t believe WWE expected a sellout, but he’s sure the current numbers are less than the company envisioned.

“Both shows now have an $84 get in price and have a 25 percent off sale that up to this point hasn’t helped sales in any meaningful way,” Meltzer wrote. “I don’t anticipate they expected anywhere near a sellout, but I can guarantee these numbers are not what they expected at all for such a major undertaking.”
