AAA Latin American title vacated following El Hijo del Vikingo injury

El Hijo del Vikingo AAA

Held by El Hijo del Vikingo, the AAA Latin American Championship has now been vacated.

A couple of weeks ago on NXT, Vikingo was scheduled to face EK Prosper. However, the match was changed on short notice and modified to Prosper facing Keanu Carver. Soon, it was reported that Vikingo had suffered a knee injury that would require surgery.

The news was verified on the July 11 edition of AAA on Fox, where Dorian Roldan announced and confirmed Vikingo’s injury status. With the Latin American Championship vacated, Roldan proceeded to crown Omos as the brand new champion.

However, AAA’s general manager Rey Mysterio appeared just in time to stop the crowning and compelled Omos to vacate the title.

Later, at the media scrum, Mysterio announced that the Latin American Champion’s fate will be decided next week. While no official match or competitor list was announced, WWE’s Damian Priest expressed his interest in pursuing the title.
