Former TNA World Champion reportedly working backstage at recent AEW shows
Sami Callihan has reportedly been working backstage at recent AEW events.
Callihan was released by TNA last month as part of what the promotion referred to as a “workforce reduction.”
According to a report from Bodyslam.net on Thursday, Callihan has been working as a backstage producer for AEW, beginning with the July 8 Beach Break edition of Dynamite in Clearwater, Florida. He was also backstage for the July 11 Collision in Roanoke, Virginia, this week’s Dynamite from the MGM Music Hall in Boston, and is expected to be at tonight’s Collision taping at the same venue.
Bodyslam noted in its report that Callihan is believed to be working without a contract.
Prior to his release, Callihan had been working in a backstage role for TNA since retiring from in-ring competition in the summer of 2025. The 38-year-old is also a former Impact World Champion, having held the title from October 25, 2019, until the Hard to Kill pay-per-view on January 12, 2020.
