Tournament announced for vacant AAA Latin American title
A new tournament is underway for the vacant AAA Latin American Championship.
The July 18 episode of AAA on Fox kicked off with GM Rey Mysterio sharing a variety of announcements. While he reintroduced El Grande Americano’s girlfriend, Andrea Bazarte, into the promotion, he also offered her a brand new contract that came with a pay rise perk.
The WWE Hall of Famer followed it up by reflecting on former AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo del Vikingo’s injury and the now vacant Latin American title.
Mysterio announced that a new champion is set to be crowned in a four-way match at Triplemania 34, which is a two-night event on September 11th and September 13th. The qualifiers tournament for the title began on the July 18 episode itself.
In the first match, El Hijo de Dr. Wagner J defeated Abismo Negro and Texano Jr. in a triple threat match. It should also be noted that Dr. Wagner Jr.’s father, Dr. Wagner, was the first-ever AAA Latin American Champion.
