Title match reportedly set for ESPN first hour portion of WWE SummerSlam
While the full card has yet to be finalized for next weekend’s WWE SummerSlam, one title match is reportedly a front runner to air in the one of the two early ESPN windows.
According to WrestleVotes on Fightful, Penta defending his WWE Intercontinental title against Chad Gable is expected to be in that ESPN window on either Saturday or Sunday in Minnesota.
Gable earned the shot by winning a gauntlet match in a mid-July episode of WWE Raw and is looking for his first run with the title. Gable was Penta’s first opponent when he debuted in January 2025.
Penta has held the title for over 140 days with nine successful defenses — the last coming in June against Rey Mysterio.
