Adam Copeland & Christian Cage to make Arena Mexico debuts at AEW Grand Slam Mexico, updated card
AEW’s return south of the border for this Wednesday’s Grand Slam Mexico got a few new additions on Thursday including a Trios title defense, Andrade El Idolo’s first match in Arena Mexico in over two years, and Adam Copeland & Christian Cage’s first-ever match in the venue.
Copeland and Cage will team with All In: London opponents The Young Bucks in an eight-man against a Death Riders foursome of Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, PAC and Daniel Garcia.

The match between Will Ospreay and Mark Davis on the show already had everyone banned from ringside but after a show-closing brawl on Collision, Ospreay issued a challenge for a Mexico City street fight instead.

After The Demand won the titles for the first time on Wednesday’s Dynamite, Ricochet, Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona will defend against former AEW World Champion Hangman Page and former AEW World Tag Team Champions Brodido. The Demand and the Lethal Twist were attacking former champions The Conglomeration after the win when Brody King ran out to help but was outnumbered. Page then ran out with a chair and took Lethal out with a Buckshot Lariat.
On Thursday’s Collision, Page formed an alliance with Bandido and King backstage and issued the challenge that was later accepted. Page will be looking for his second Trios title run and first since a 49-day reign earlier this year.

AEW National Champion Andrade El Idolo will make his return to Arena Mexico for the first time since December 2023 when he faces Tommaso Ciampa and Komander in a three-way qualifier for the first spot in the Casino Gauntlet match at next month’s All In: London.
After losing to Chris Jericho at Redemption, Ciampa returned to action on Collision and issued the challenge to Idolo in a backstage promo later. Komander picked up a win also on Collision, defeating Jay Lethal.

Former AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander will take on reigning CMLL Women’s Champion Persephone after Statlander gained a measure of revenge Wednesday, costing Persephone in her match against TBS Champion Maya World. Persephone laid out Statlander in the recent TBS title Survival of the Fittest match, leading to Hikaru Shida picking up the win and title.

Additionally, TNT Champion Kevin Knight issued a challenge for any three former champions to take on himself and two members of the Don Callis Family. That call was answered by Mistico, Chris Jericho and Darby Allin who will face Knight, Kazuchika Okada and Hechicero.
