Jake “The Snake” Roberts made a WWE-related appearance while in town for SummerSlam week.

On Saturday and Sunday, Roberts and his wife Cheryl will be guests at WrestleCon in Minneapolis. Roberts also signed autographs for fans during a meet and greet on Friday at SummerSlam TakeOver — a fan event presented by WWE and Fanatics. Roberts was listed among the wrestlers/legends who would be available for meet and greets, and WWE shared a video of him at the event.

The 71-year-old Roberts is no longer with AEW, confirming the news in an interview with Bill Apter that was conducted in May but not released until earlier this month. He had praise for AEW boss Tony Khan despite no longer being with the company, saying Khan is “awesome” and a “breath of fresh air.” Roberts was signed to AEW since the early days of the promotion but did not frequently appear on television.

During his time with AEW, Roberts remained under a WWE Legends contract. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014.

Roberts is now 14 years sober from drugs and alcohol. He told Apter that he does not watch much current wrestling, with most of his time spent focusing on his wife, grandkids, and a 1965 Cadillac convertible that he owns.
