AEW pushes back Newark, NJ, Dynamite date to February 2021

AEW won’t be making their debut in Newark, NJ, this year after all as an email went out to ticket holders Thursday that Dynamite will instead debut at the Prudential Center on Wednesday, February 24th, 2021, instead.

The show was originally scheduled for March 25th and was to be headlined by their first Blood & Guts match, a War Games-style affair between The Elite and the Inner Circle. Due to the pandemic, the show, and all other planned AEW live events, were postponed.

Their New York/New Jersey area debut was shaping up to be one of their most successful events revenue-wise to date as it sold 10,000 tickets less than a week after it went on sale.

According to their website, AEW still has rescheduled dates on their calendar for Rochester, NY, (July 8); Philadelphia, PA (July 29); and Boston, MA (August 5) with more events starting in October. With most cities still not allowing mass gatherings due to the pandemic, it’s unclear when promotions like AEW will be able to realistically go back on the road and if any of the scheduled summer shows will actually happen.
