Eight-man tag team match added to AEW New Year’s Smash night one

The first of AEW’s two New Year’s Smash editions of Dynamite will feature an eight-man tag match featuring their tag team champions and their most recent challengers.

Current champions The Young Bucks will team with the first-ever tag champions SCU to take on The Acclaimed and The Hybrid2 as part of next Wednesday’s live show.

The match was hinted at during Tuesday’s episode of Dark after SCU defeated TH2 in the main event. Afterward, The Acclaimed ran out and attacked Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian along with TH2 only to have the Bucks come out and run them off.

Two weeks ago on the Holiday Bash edition of Dynamite, the Bucks defeated The Acclaimed for their first successful title defense.

Also announced Wednesday, the Cody Rhodes vs. Matt Sydal match originally slated for night two was moved up to next week.

Next Wednesday will also feature:

  • AEW World Champion Kenny Omega vs. Rey Fenix
  • An appearance from former champion Jon Moxley
  • AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida vs. Abadon
  • Jake Hager vs. Wardlow
  • Snoop Dogg and Chris Jericho on commentary
