Entire first round of AEW World title shot tourney happening Wednesday
While they didn’t announce it on TV this past week, all four first round matches in the AEW World title no. 1 contender tournament will be on this week’s Dynamite.
On last week’s show, they only announced “the first match” as taking place in addition to some non-tourney bouts, but a Sunday tweet indicated the entire first round would play out this week, later confirmed with the company.
The first round will feature Penta El Zero M vs. Rey Fenix, Kenny Omega vs. Joey Janela, Colt Cabana vs. Hangman Page, and Wardlow vs. Jungle Boy. The finals will be at November’s Full Gear with the winner earning an AEW World Championship shot in the future.
Wednesday’s Dynamite will also feature:
- Young Bucks vs. Private Party vs. Butcher & The Blade vs. John Silver and Alex Reynolds where the winner earns an AEW Tag Team Title shot at Full Gear.
- Dr. Britt Baker vs. TBA
- Chris Jericho and MJF’s “Le Dinner Debonair”
