Kenny Omega taking time off from AEW, Triplemania status unknown

Former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega will be taking time off from the company to heal up from several injuries, some of which likely will require surgery.

Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Omega will be “done with AEW for a while until everything heals up.” He said there is no target for Omega’s return, but that Omega hopes February is possible although that timeframe might be a bit premature.

It’s unknown if Omega will still be defending the AAA Mega title at December 4th’s Triplemania against Vikingo.

Meltzer said Omega has been suffering from injuries to his shoulder, knee, an abdominal hernia and more. The idea would be to have surgeries to resolve some of these issues and to try and address everything at once, but that course of action has yet to be determined.

Omega lost the AEW title to Hangman Page at this past Saturday’s AEW Full Gear. He did an appearance on Wednesday’s Dynamite, telling Adam Cole and The Young Bucks that he was taking some time off and asked them to hold down the fort until he returns.
