AEW congratulates champion for setting title defense record on Collision
AEW has congratulated Kevin Knight for setting a new record for successful defenses of the TNT Championship in a single title reign.
AEW wrote:
“Congratulations to “The Jet” @Jet2Flyy for holding the new record for successful defenses of the TNT Championship in a single reign!”
Knight’s win over AR Fox that aired on Saturday’s Collision, and was taped on Thursday at MGM Music Hall in Boston, was his ninth defense of the title since winning it at AEW Dynasty on April 12 in a Casino Gauntlet match for the vacant championship.
He has since defended it against Claudio Castagnoli, MJF, Hook, Brian Cage, Mike Bailey, Myron Reed, Desmond Xavier, Lio Rush, and Fox.
TNT Championship reigns by title defenses
Using Cagematch as a source, this is the first time the record has been overtaken since it was set by Cody Rhodes during his inaugural reign as TNT champion from May 23 to August 13, 2020, when he successfully defended the title eight times.
Darby Allin tied the record with eight successful title defenses during his reign from November 7, 2020 to May 12, 2021.
Miro then defended the title eight times as well during his reign from May 12, 2021 to September 29, 2021.
Kyle Fletcher tied the then-record with eight successful title defenses during his reign from July 31, 2025 to November 22, 2025.
Knight is the 32nd champion in the title’s lineage.
