AEW files for ‘Death’s Door’ trademark

AEW Death's Door cage

AEW has applied to trademark the stipulation name of one of the top matches at Forbidden Door 2026.

Sunday’s pay-per-view saw Team Briscoe defeat Team DCMJF in what was billed as a “Death’s Door” steel cage match. Featuring a rounded cage with more room than usual between the ring and steel structure, it was the first time AEW has used the “Death’s Door” name — and the promotion filed a trademark for that term on June 29.

Here is what is listed in the application:

  • Mark: Death’s Door
  • Goods and services: Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services in the nature of live professional wrestling performances; Entertainment services in the nature of production of professional wrestling programs and events

Briscoe teamed with Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly, Konosuke Takeshita & Darby Allin in the bout to defeat MJF and The Don Callis Family. Kazuchika Okada, Andrade El Idolo, Kevin Knight, Kyle Fletcher & Jake Doyle were MJF’s partners. The match included Andrade turning against both MJF and the DCF.

Mark Briscoe set for AEW World title shot —

With the victory, Briscoe earned a World Championship shot against MJF that will take place on AEW Dynamite in San Diego, California this Wednesday (July 1). Their matchup is set to open the broadcast.
