AEW’s Penelope Ford not medically cleared to wrestle

Penelope Ford hasn’t been seen in an AEW ring since January of this year, leading to speculation that she might not be long for the promotion.

However, AEW head Tony Khan said that’s not the case and that the 29-year-old isn’t medically cleared to wrestle.

Replying to a fan on Twitter saying he had given up on her, Khan said “total opposite” and that he “can’t wait until she’s medically cleared to come back.”

It’s unknown what her injury is. Ford was last seen defeating Angelica Risk on a mid-January edition of Dark.

She has remained active on social media and Twitch, but hasn’t discussed any injury. She is doing a signing next weekend in Connecticut alongside The Butcher, The Bunny and The Blade.

There have also been questions as to the return of Ford’s husband, Kip Sabian. Sabian has been on the AEW sidelines since he and Miro lost in the first-ever Arcade Anarchy match to Best Friends last March.

After a backstage attack by Miro to write him off, Sabian underwent shoulder surgery in May of 2021. In recent months, he has been seen on AEW TV in the crowd wearing a box on his head while dressed in a suit. He has yet to be identified on camera, however.

Sabian returned to in-ring action for England indie BWR on July 1st, defeating Robbie X at their fifth anniversary show.
