AEW Puppy Battle Royale announced for next Wednesday

While the term “puppies” in pro wrestling is commonly associated with Attitude Era Jerry Lawler commentary, AEW is looking to bring it back but in a totally different context.

During night one of Fyter Fest, AEW announced that next week will see the debut of the Puppy Battle Royale:

No details, or even the context of why they are doing this, was announced. It’s also unclear if this is airing during Fyter Fest or afterward as the clip that ran during the show said ‘Next week after Fyter Fest’ while the video above that was tweeted didn’t.

Next week’s Fyter Fest lineup changed as AEW World Champion Jon Moxley vs. Brian Cage was moved two weeks to July 15th for the newly announced Fight For The Fallen. Moxley’s wife, Renee Young, tested positive for COVID-19 recently, so the move is assumed to be a precautionary one.

The lineup:

  • AEW Tag Team Champions Kenny Omega & Hangman Page vs. Private Party
  • Orange Cassidy vs. Chris Jericho
  • FTR & Young Bucks vs. The Butcher & The Blade and Lucha Bros
  • Lance Archer (w/Jake Roberts) vs. Joey Janela
  • Nyla Rose will be in action with a “big surprise and announcement”
  • SCU vs. Dark Order (Mr. Brodie Lee and Stu Grayson) and Colt Cabana
