AEW's Tony Khan: New 'huge signing' on Dynamite also sets up Friday's Rampage

The AEW head also said Bryan Danielson has been working with Jade Cargill behind the scenes.

The new debuting star walking through the "forbidden door" on Wednesday's AEW Dynamite will also set up this Friday's Rampage, according to company head Tony Khan.

Talking to Sports Illustrated, Khan continued to put a lot of emphasis on what he calls a "huge signing" for AEW that will debut in a Face of the Revolution qualifying match against Isiah Kassidy Wednesday.

“It’s going to be a big reveal on Dynamite. It sets up this week’s Rampage and puts a lot of irons in our fire. We have created an environment in AEW where people routinely expect great wrestling matches, and we have the wrestlers to live up to those high expectations," he said.

Khan also said, "I have created some debate about what it means to open the ‘Forbidden Door' and that’s what we are going to do on this show."

Khan told SI he sees his crowded roster as a positive and one that will benefit AEW both long and short term. He also likes the interactions that provides backstage, using Bryan Danielson working with TBS Champion Jade Cargill as an example.

"I recently asked (Danielson) and Jade Cargill, who is already starting an amazing run as our TBS champion, to work together. I think Bryan is the world’s greatest pro wrestler and he has such valuable insight. Jade is incredibly driven and Bryan’s been a great mentor to her so far," he said.
