Allin-Cage TNT title match set for AEW New Year’s Smash night two

The first matches for night two of AEW New Year’s Smash on January 6th were announced, headlined by TNT Champion Darby Allin vs. Brian Cage.

Cage’s manager Taz made it official during Wednesday’s Holiday Bash edition of Dynamite, telling Allin as he stood side-by-side with Sting after Team Taz had threatened the legend and were approaching the ring to attack him.

In another match, Cody Rhodes (w/ Arn Anderson) will take on Matt Sydal. Rhodes last defeated Angelico two weeks ago and was confronted by Team Taz afterward, leading to Sting making the save.

The final match announced was FTR (w/ Tully Blanchard) vs. Jurassic Express (w/ Marko Stunt) which has been brewing for several weeks. FTR announced the match was official Wednesday following the Express’ win over 5 and 10 of the Dark Order. Blanchard added he may have to “go back to the 80s” if Stunt gets involved.

Snoop Dogg will be a guest commentator on the live show.

Night one will take place next Wednesday and is headlined by World Champion Kenny Omega vs. Rey Fenix. Former champion Jon Moxley will also make his first appearance since losing the title.
