Big Cass removed from AEW roster page ahead of WWE return
Big Cass is officially done with AEW as he prepares to make his WWE return in just a few weeks.
As of today, Big Cass — who competed for the promotion as Big Bill — is no longer listed on the AEW website roster page. The removal usually means an AEW wrestler is no longer under contract with the company, which was made apparent last night when a video hyping Cass’ WWE return aired on Raw. It listed August 3 as his WWE return date.
There have been rumors for weeks that Cass and his former tag team partner Enzo Amore would be reuniting in WWE. Last night’s hype video did not give any confirmation on whether Amore is coming in, instead solely focusing on Cass and how he was once considered a “can’t miss” talent in WWE. Cass battled severe alcoholism earlier in his career but has turned his life around and has now been sober for more than five years, competing for TNA/Impact Wrestling and AEW after his release from WWE in 2018.
Enzo Amore reacts to Big Cass hype video —
Amore did react to last night’s Cass video with a social media post where he wrote out his signature promo from their WWE tag team days.
“My name is Enzo Amore and I am a certified G and a bona fide stud. And you … can’t … teach … that!” Amore wrote. “And this right here … this is Big Cass and he’s 7 foot tall and you can’t teach that! BADA BOOM, REALEST GUYS IN THE ROOM! HOW YOU DOING?”
Amore & Cass teamed together in NXT and on the WWE main roster but did not win tag team gold with the company. In AEW, Cass had a Tag Team title reign with Ricky Starks and was later a member of Chris Jericho’s faction The Learning Tree.
Cass gave notice to AEW at the end of June ahead of his move back to WWE.
The August 3 episode of Raw is the post-SummerSlam edition of the show.
