Christopher Daniels confirms end of in-ring career on AEW Dynamite & social media

After reports emerged over the weekend that it was likely over, the long in-ring career of Christopher Daniels has officially come to an end, confirmed both on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite and social media.
After a Hangman Page squash win on Wednesday, Daniels confronted him on the ramp before he headed to the back, saying that after his loss to Page in a Texas Death Match on Saturday’s Collision, his doctors advised him to never wrestle again due to his previous neck injuries and the injuries sustained in the match.
He said Page defeated him in the last match he would ever wrestle and apologized, hoping Page would be happy now.
If there was any question as to whether it was a storyline or not, the 54-year-old Daniels took to X to post another confirmation and a thanks:
Daniels’ career began in 1993 and took him all around the world, creating a buzz on the indie scene that helped make him a founding member of Ring of Honor. He also spent extensive time in TNA, made appearances in WWE, ECW and WCW without extended runs in any of the three, and wrestled 36 times for PWG.
He held the ROH World, TV, Tag Team and Six-Man titles along with the TNA Tag Team titles and X-Division championship among dozens of indie titles as well. He most recently held the Defy interim World title and the Tag Team titles with Swerve Strickland.
Since 2011, Josh has been a contributing editor to Wrestling Observer/F4WOnline.com and also hosts the Punch-Out podcast.
