Full field, first round matches & rules announced for first-ever AEW Continental Cup tournament

The field of 16 participants, all first round matches and the rules have been announced for the inaugural AEW Continental Cup tournament that culminates at this month’s All In: London.

Continental Cup field:

  • AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley
  • Nigel McGuinness
  • Jay White
  • Brian Cage
  • Kyle O’Reilly
  • Katsuyori Shibata
  • Matt Sydal
  • Hechicero
  • Roderick Strong
  • David Finlay
  • Jack Perry
  • Claudio Castagnoli
  • Orange Cassidy
  • Ace Austin
  • Jake Doyle
  • Eddie Kingston

The winner of the overall tourney will be the new AEW Continental Champion and will win the new Continental Cup.

Rules:

  • As is the case with the Continental Classic, there will be no outside interference allowed but there will be no time limits.
  • There is no bracket as the eight winners from the first round will have their next match decided via a “blind draw.”

    • Ace Austin vs. Claudio Castagnoli
    • Eddie Kingston vs. Jake Doyle
    • Orange Cassidy vs. Matt Sydal
  • Next Wednesday’s Dynamite (Las Vegas):
    • Jay White vs. David Finlay
    • Jon Moxley vs. Jack Perry
  • Next Saturday (Las Vegas):
    • Roderick Strong vs. Kyle O’Reilly
    • Hechicero vs. Brian Cage
    • Nigel McGuinness vs. Katsuyori Shibata

The semifinals will take place in Glasgow, Scotland, on August 26.
