First two wrestlers qualify for AEW TBS title Survival of the Fittest match
The first two Survival of the Fittest competitors are now set.
Hikaru Shida and Persephone advanced to the Survival of the Fittest match on Saturday, winning their qualifying matches. They now advance to the six-woman elimination match that will take place on the July 1 edition of Dynamite in San Diego where a new TBS Champion will be crowned.
Shida defeated Zayda Steel to qualify, placing her in a new submission hold for the win. After the match, she continued to attack Steel until Christopher Daniels ran in to stop any further damage. Later, Persephone picked up the win, defeating Julia Hart following a press powerbomb. It was Hart that kept Persephone out of action for over a month after a mist attack.
The TBS Championship was declared vacant after Willow Nightingale gave up the title due to injury. Several women including Kris Statlander, Mina Shirakawa, and Harley Cameron have expressed interest in qualifying for the upcoming elimination match.
