The former FTW Champion said that former AEW World Champion MJF was heavily involved in his “inception” into wrestling and was the first person he was in the ring with. He said MJF helped “fine tune” the idea and was part of a group spitballing ideas of what he could be called.
He said he loved every connection that comes with the name: part homage to his father Taz’s Red Hook, Brooklyn, roots; part homage to the hook and shoot style; and that he wanted a one-word name: something that was short, punchy, and quick. He also said he likes how the name looks symmetrical with the two letter o’s next to each other.
Hook’s Acting Future
Hook (birth name Tyler Senerchia) was on the show to promote his acting debut in Money Talks, a short debut film made by his friend and college roommate/fellow college dropout Tony Mucci.
Hook said he is getting an agent and is “looking to get his name out there” to get more auditions and “more reps” on screen. He said never saw himself as a performer and was initially drawn to being behind the camera instead.
During the interview, Hook revealed he is currently recovering from a concussion that has kept him out since an April 9th Dynamite match where he appeared to suffer the injury, but that he “should be back soon.” He did make a surprise appearance at May’s Double or Nothing during the Anarchy in the Arena match, but hasn’t been seen since.
