Hook vs. Christian Cage announced for AEW Dynamite Maximum Carnage

A match over three months in the making has finally been confirmed for the Maximum Carnage edition of AEW Dynamite taking place in two weeks.

Announced during Wednesday’s Dynamite, former TNT Champion Christian Cage will take on Hook. Cage and his Patriarchy faction took out Hook’s father, Taz, in an unseen parking lot attack in October in a storyline cover for Taz’s knee replacement surgery.

Hook has been in pursuit of Cage and his cronies since then. Cage and Nick Wayne defeated Hook and Katsuyori Shibata in December, followed by a Hook singles win over Wayne on the final Rampage last week. There was also a notable skirmish recently where Hook took out the Patriarchy in a luxury box.

The new addition joins the previously announced AEW World title defense by Jon Moxley against the winner of next Wednesday’s Casino gauntlet.

Here’s the current lineup for Wednesday, January 15th from Cincinnatti, Ohio:

  • AEW World Champion Jon Moxley vs. TBD
  • Christian Cage vs. Hook
